I collected 64 rocks and had them inscribed with the dates they were found.
I made paper “ghosts” of the forms of the rocks, using translucent washi paper; then I made wooden plaques of all the colours of the rocks. The rocks, “ghosts” and coloured plaques were exhibited at the Penetanguishene Centennial Museum. Summer, 2010.
In August, I had a “Ceremony of Return” at my cottage on Georgian Bay. Some thirty friends, local artists, and neighbours gathered and returned the engraved rocks to the Bay.
That night we also burned the “ghosts”.
