I photographed people in stores and small businesses, for the two blocks where my studio was located, on Oakwood Avenue in Toronto. The strip is a nondescript conglomeration of dollar stores, a pest control center, a driving school, a drugstore and so on. It is anchored by a beautiful community library, the Oakwood Village Library and Art Centre. I asked everyone where they were from and the year they came to Canada, and placed their pictures on a map of the world. The piece, 6′ x 4′, was on display in the library for ten years. 2002.
