An installation in the administrative offices of the former City of York Fire Department at Lawrence and Weston Road in Toronto. I interviewed over twenty firefighters and constructed a wooden “book” of eight “pages”, each collaged with historical and contemporary images and quotes. A text panel displays excerpts from interviews: “Comedy”, “Tragedy”, “Work” and “A Sense of Time and Place”. Four banners hang from the 17’ foyer: Fire, Water, Courage, Pride. 1998.
