Starting in 2005, I made portraits in triplicate of everyone in my life. – friends, family, colleagues, my piano teacher, my financial advisor — 79 in all. For each I did a charcoal likeness, an abstract painting and a video.

For the abstract paintings, I imagined the space between myself and my subjects, and painted the love unique to each of them.

For the video portraits, I asked each person to talk about loss in their lives and how it changed them. I had them bring in some music, which became their soundtrack, and a gift for me.

The work was exhibited at the Wychwood Car Barns, and in the Metro Hall Rotunda. 2010.

Three of the project participants, all close friends, have since died.
